Wow... How did that happen?

So, I've completely ignored this blog (and my other one) for quite a while, but I have a new reason to resume my blogging of tasty treats....

I randomly got signed up for the NEW weight Watchers program yesterday.

Don't laugh.

The old program works, I myself am proof of that being 75 lbs thinner than my heaviest weight and not having gained all the weight back. But how does the new one compare?

Well, we will find out together because I am going to blog the experience.

The new program has a couple of new features over the old one that I think will make this a much easier experience.

1. Fruit is now Zero Points!!!!!!! Even Bananas!

2. Most of the food I regularly consume has the same amount of points as the old program, but I get more points each day!

I don't know if I am going to use this blog as a tracker, but my ability to take pictures with my phone might make it more feasible than carrying a camera everywhere.

So, I don't know if today or tomorrow is day one, but I'll check back in once day one is over.

By Request: Julian Pie Co.

At the request of my sister in Florida, I present Julian Pie Co. The first time I went to the original one in Julian, CA. However, the secret is to go to the larger and faster moving line one in Ramona, CA. Same pies, less hassle. (These pics are from Julian)

This is (I think) an Apple/Cherry Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream.

These are called Apple memories (we call them pie memorials cuz we are weird like that)Pie crust with Cinnamon and Sugar yumminess.

This was the decadent Apple/Peach combo with a crumb top and whipped cream. Yummy!

(They sometimes also have a Peach Melba Pie that is fantastic!)

The Trails

What is he so excited about?

Could it be my yummy blueberry multigrain pancakes?

or his tasty Omelet with I forget what all stuffed inside?

Biscuits and Gravy... Yummm!

The trails is a little place in a strip mall that has really good breakfast food. I am assuming Lunch and Dinner are good too, but we always go for breakfast.

I highly recommend the Elvis Lives which are two banana and choc chip pancakes topped with peanut butter. To truly honor Elvis you'll want some of their really good bacon. I have only had better bacon once in my life and that was in Solvang.

They make really good pancakes and it has a nice vibe going on. I've never been there without having to wait, but the line moves quickly and everyone is very friendly.

La Capilla- Los Angeles finally

Finally, my first LA area restaurant. Now I knwo we all know and love La Capilla so I thought I would tochoose them for my first restaurant in "LA"

The Menu: Note Free Meal on your birthday!

The tortilla soup. All veggies and yumminess. A must try.

The mini tostada. It is huge. I <3 it!

Taco/Chile Rellano Plate. I've never tried them but they were deemed pretty good by Eric, so we'll embrace that as a glowing recommendation.

And last but not least, the flan. A tasty treat to be sure.

BMH Italian

This weeks tasty treat is yet another San Diego (La Mesa) area favorite. I will get to some LA favorites soon, but I inevitably don't have a camera with me when I go out in LA.

BMH Italian

They have the best minestrone soup ever!

Eric had chicken with pasta balls

And we shared a mufuletta sandwich. This is a picture of a half of the sandwich! It was really good but I don't know what all was on it...

Except for some Mama's Love Juice... This stuff is on every table and is oh so tasty!

Mario's de La Mesa

My lovely post for this week is Mario's de La Mesa. I eat here at least once a week, as long as I am in the area.

One of the things I love about Mario's is that they love to decorate for holidays. Today was the first time I have seen this guy. I wonder if he is a Valentine's friend?

Mario's starts you out with Chips and salsa, like most Mexican restaurants in Southern California... Here they give you a spoon, because once you run out of chips, I have seen more than one person eat this stuff straight from the cup. It is definitely a tasty treat.

While you wait for your food, you can enjoy a Spanish Vocabulary lesson. "Yo neccesito mas enchiladas por favor!" (please excuse my horrible lack of Spanish grammar skills)

Here you can see my plate which is the 1 taco, 1 enchilada plate. This is an amazing plate, but here is a secret about Mario's. It is the only restaurant where I get enchiladas. And I get them every time I come here. I ordinarily DO NOT like enchiladas. Here, through a strange twist of fate I discovered that I love the enchiladas, and they are my favorite thing on the menu. EAT THE ENCHILADAS!!! You will not regret it!

And last but not least, as you exit, make sure you grab your lollipop, because it isn't a trip to Mario's without the lollipop. And grab a green one, unless there is only one left, then leave it for me, because you never know when I will be in here next.

Now on to things like stars and ratings.

Ordinarily Mario's would get a ten out of five star rating. (Yes, it is that good.)
But they have some interesting hours on Sundays and Mondays. Sunday is brunch only and has a different menu (although when I went there for brunch they a had a help yourself to bunuelos station and the lady brought around yummy cups of fruit salad while we waited for our food) Monday they are open 9-2:30ish for breakfast and lunch. The rest of the week they are open from 9-8ish I think.

My only other grievance is that they put peas in their rice, and I have to pick them out.

I would say 5.5 out of 5 stars for my beloved MArio's de La Mesa

First Post: Tacos El Paisa

My Very first Blog about Good and Interesting Places to Eat Food.

I decided to start this blog because there are some interesting and tasty places to eat that are not as well known as the major chain restaurants (I may cover some of them, but only if they are truly unique)

My first Restaurant is Tacos El Paisa on National in San Diego, CA.

The first thing that made this place stand out, was that EVERY table is given this massive tray of tasty condiments. On our tray was Sliced Cucumbers, Radishes, Hot Carrots, a Salsa Verde, 2 Red Salsas, and Avocado Salsa and Limes.

These aren't the only treats brought to you at your table. You also get little cups of pinto beans and a plate of grilled onions and peppers. Here is my boyfirend Eric demonstrating a Grilled Pepper before he ate it!

Their specialty, as the name suggests is tacos. They have great tacos. I highly recommend the Carne Asada and the Chicken.

They also have such delights as Sopes, Gorditas, Quesadillas, Tortas and Burritos. The first time I came here, I had one of the best Bean and Cheese Burritos I have ever eaten in my life. So this time I decided to try something I was assured was a "San Diego Thing" and got a California Burrito. It was filled with Carne Asada, Sour Cream, Cheese, Guacamole, and French Fries. Wait a Minute?! Fries? Yes, Fries. It was a tasty treat that's only shortcoming was that I needed some help to finish eating it.

They have indoor and outdoor seating available, but on a nice day I highly recommend sitting outside!

The reason this place is so good? Not only are the prices reasonable, but the food comes straight to you from a TACO TRUCK! Taco Trucks with all the perks of a restaurant! Now that is AMAZING!

I also highly recommend the Jamaica to drink it is one of the best Jamaicas I have ever consumed.

All in all, this place gets a 5 stars rating on the tasty treat scale!
